What's the weirdest thing you've sketched on?

plugz's picture

Having a flash of an idea one weekend while recovering from a party at a friends house I suddenly got an idea for a flyer I'd been asked to do.
They could find a pen but no paper so I grabbed a banana and started scrribbling...

This is how it turned out.
Obviously there were several revisions of the design after but for a first sketch I thought it was an interesting one.
And for those of you who have never used a ballpoint pen on a banana skin I HIGHLY recommend it, it' like drawing on air.

I'll see if I can find the finished printed article deep in the vaults somewhere.

was the final printed on bananas or banana shaped surface? that might have looked really nice too.

We looked in to it and had planned it...

But the venue got shut down 2 months later. :(

Ah.

There probably isn't anything better in the sketching world than drawing on a banana. It's a very fun and unique texture. I second the recommendation to do so.

Uhm, I've sketched on my arms/hands multiple times, when paper wasn't available... but is that weird?

Glad to share the joy.

Just got back from sunny Orlando and despite arriving back in London to near freezing temperatures I've got no email access for some reason so I'm having to get the crap out of my head on forums.

I'm just bouncing ideas off people.

*prays email comes back up soon*

I'm dreading the state of my inbox when I get it back, it's been 6 days. :os

my own wallet...

yepp, i used to draw on my own wallet. this a few years back mind you, but the ink of a ballpoint would stay long enough and not rub off if the wallet was just stable in my back pocket, but get home and i could erase it with a kleenex and water. and just like that i had a clean new surface to start over if i ever needed to.

sigh... i miss that wallet.

i've drawn on a banana, indeed an interesting surface. working in architecture requires us to draw sometimes on site, so i've also drawn on rough lumber, drywall, concrete, the back of a marble slab, the front of it also (but with a dry erase marker) also on my own car with that same dry erase marker.

hmmm, what else.. tried on an orange once, that sucked! oh, and the ever obvious is napkins, i've drawn LOADS of stuff on napkins.. i love drawing ideas when siting in restaurants waiting for my food.. heh..
