Okay, I'll bite. ;)
Talk to designers in your area to get a good recommendation. Simple as that.

I agree. Other local designers should be able to advise you.
You can also, on your own, seek out the best quality printers in your area that you feel match your values and approach to business.
I've partnered with two primary printing firm near my design business for over 30 years. I learned and adapted to their systems and they learned my production techniques. I have always solicited their input and adjusted my files to accommodate their prepress department. We are mutually supportive and they have always stood behind their work. I use a large number of printers but depend on these two for most large projects.
My best suggestion...Call on and interview your local printing firms and find a good fit in terms of personality (yours/theirs) and place your faith in their technical ability. I am always very disappointed when I encounter young, design school graduates who berate a printer in a condescending manner and demand them to make their files work, taking a role of superiority.
Good luck!
