Where to start over?
minneola24 (28 pencils) | Sun, 2009-03-01 15:49Hello,
I am a young freelance designer still in high school. I just recently switched from photoshop cs3 to illustrator cs3 to design my logos. I have been doing this for a year and looking back at older logos there doesn't seem to be much of an improvement.
Here are some of my latest logos.

I get all my logo clients from a forum called namepros, I have a website but no one goes to it so I want to revamp it with a flash template with new logos, so I want to create some good ones before I upload them all. Then I can advertise.
I have $30 to spend on design resources, what should I get? What book/s should I get?
I really want to revamp my business and get back into it since I don't want to work at the grocery store putting food in bags.

Yeah I should probably think simple.
The reason I switched to illustrator was it seemed much easier to do logos and has better vector capabilities. How do you easily transfer .ai files to photoshop to polish it off without loosing all of the vector data?
Most of my clients want more and more for less and less. I just got a message from a client who wants a corporate logo for $5. Lol. Thanks for the tips jHouse.
the reason to use illustrator for logos instead of photoshop is more scalability and flexibility than "better" or "worse."
vector art is totally scalable to any size and can easily be converted to bitmap, if necessarily. the opposite is not true. you should always have your final logo artwork in vector format. it just makes life easier in the long-term for your client.
Thanks for the comments everyone, their very helpful.

That is my latest logo, I tried to fill the more simple theme of things. This is for a contest on 99 designs, which they pay $100+ but its a contest so your not guaranteed anything. The good thing is you gain experience.
