White Logo on blue bar not printing properly
sellicott (7 pencils) | Thu, 2009-10-01 19:52Hey everyone...
I am having a bit of trouble with CS3 InDesign printing a relatively straightforward brochure.
I have a white logo that sits on top of a colored box, but on the proof provided by IKON, the logo is not coming through. I tried creating a new layer and inserting the logos to that layer, but still no luck.
I'm using CS3 InDesign and embedded, rather than linked the logos. Is this a PDF version problem-- any idea what I might be doing wrong?
Ikon is also a commercial printer like FedEx Kinkos, so they can't provide too much assistance and will only be using my exported PDF.

I get a "page not found" message at that URL.
The problem can be many. I'd start by checking the overprint preview in Acrobat to see if the logo is showing up there. If it's not - you can rule out Ikon as the source of the trouble. Most likely the logo is set to overprint (or surprint - whichever term you use) which would make a white logo disappear. It needs to be set to knock out of the blue bar.
A general rule I use with all programs is never imbed (or link) art unless it's absolutely necessary. It doubles the sources for problems of this nature. The logo could be set to overprint in two different programs when you imbed (Illustrator and the original source program). Better to do everything in one program (if possible).
the link is broken over two lines and the actual link is incomplete. you'd need to add "Sponsor Brochure - Revision 4.pdf" at the end of it (and probably put in %20 any place there's a space, too).
Hey Art,

Problem SOLVED.
Thanks for helping an underpaid, under-appreciated and poorly educated non-profit user of CS!
