The Wooden Chair logo
davidmcholland (104 points) | Fri, 2009-12-04 22:14Greetings-
The attached logo is one I'm currently working on for a small, friendly little restaurant in central Wisconsin. To its name it is filled with an eclectic assortment of wooden spindle chairs. I welcome your thoughts and insights.
Thanks, David

If the restaurant is eclectic, why arent the chairs in the logo eclectic?
There is also a lot of info, the pattern of the back of the chairs are taking to much attention from the name. Don't take the chairs as startingpoint, never use it to litterly.
Th type is way too classic American... Looks more like a type for a campane for presidents..
this is very ordered and not eclectic at all. Stir it up a bit! You have great material to work with, I would love to do their logo.

Bureauplus and monkey1979 took the words right out of my mouth. Why a 90-degree clone of the same chair? And anyway, why so literal? How about just a big wooden SEAT of a chair, distressed, with the name "painted" on it or even scratched into it, the way kids used to do with their desks in school? Something more whimsical.

I would kill for a job like this. So many quirky possibilities.
Please post a new fresh idea that reflects the business more, I really want to see where this goes.

Too literal and way too much detail. I'm not against this idea of looking down on a table with chairs - but aim at a more stylized version. The spindles might work better as side handles on a sign-type logo where you would only need one large one on each side instead of a dozen like this example. The font could be something more homey too - this is kind of formal for a "small, friendly little restaurant". All caps makes it more formal.
I think that the logo is way too busy, and does any one else see an atom? or a daffodil?

I think that if you have 4 chair backs in the logo then you need to change the name of the restaurant to 'the wooden chairs'
Also the type needs a bit of breathing space, not much mind but it is borderline cramped in that circle/table.
The owner must have the original 'wooden chair' , try and get a look and sketch it ,photograph it , take some rubbings from the texture, then try and bring some of that feeling to the logo.
16 billion colours and you choose the one i cant create !??!
you have a so easy resolution, but you made a confusing one.
please you don't need to go back to arts & crafts era.
the people won't see a chair even you told them.
just put a wooden chair and make what you need to be a charm.
yes I'm brazilian xD
