I've heard/know of 27 of the 50 artists, so 23 of them I have no clue. I own 3 of the albums and have probably heard music from about 15 of the albums. Nothing like music snob end of year lists.

I also recognize the names/albums of maybe half the list, but only own a couple of them. Looks like most of my music purchases of 2004 would be dismissed as crap by them. Which is fine by me.
If you're in a need of calm and intelligent, extremely sweet music, check out Devendra Banhart's album called Rejoicing in the hands!
He's a genius and only 21.
I recognized 2 names in that list. I quess that says something about my age.
I recently saw this on another forum:
"I have a theory about liking popular music. As far as I can tell, the best music is made when you're between 15 and 25. Between 25 and 35 music gets progressively worse. By the time you're older than 35, new music sucks big time. With exceptions here and there, to be sure."
I have no argument with that.

Yeah, it is true. I notice that myself, being on the cusp of being 25. The music I listened to when I was 17-20 is the stuff that is lasting. Anything I listen to now seems vapid and without any real profound influence on my life anymore. Music used to be the be all end all. Now it's all is just a passing fancy to me.
