you lose the word christmas in the yellow area, and the sparkly swirl thing behind it doesn't help

other then that this is a decent start, not sure if the flowers at the top are the right season, and the red section seems a little small, not to mention, it's still only 2007 and not 2008, this makes it looks like a card for next year.

When I hear any Christmas song, I can't explain the happiness inside my heart. This is my favorite season and because this is the birthday of Jesus. During this season I always makes sure that I give something to my love one. Anything that would make them happy even a little thing.

you got a nice solid concept here, christmas items and scenes, and not showing them in full. i agree with archmedia about the text "Merry Christmas", the sparky thing, the red section and the flowers. If you need to have all these elements in the design, here is how I would fix it:

1. Make "Merry Christmas" bolder, and add a drop shadow (or glow, but I pref drop shadow) to "separate" this layer visually, lift it up and make it pop out as well.

2. Get higher res photos if you can, try to effectively crop them so more color in the subjects show, rather than those over-exposed white space or background. i also noticed in the big pic that there are spaces between these photos, you gotta make sure no space show between 'em!

3. since there are a lot of things going on in the card, try to balance that with EQUAL widths in the columns, (esp that red), it will visually give it a better sense of over-all spacing and arrangement

4. the flowers.... hmmm too spring-y. i would use snowflake vectors, christmas balls or stars, same effect, but more EFFECTIVE. and no matter what you do and where you are, (i live in sunny cali) snowflakes on christmas designs always evoke the christmas holidays - even if doesnt snow there :)

5. this is a personal preference, but i wouldnt use that font for 2008, just because there's already a lot going on. i would classify that font as fun and cartoon-y, whereas i see the general design here is contemporary-elegant.

Good luck guy! I hope it helps...

it seems cluttered...but I like it kind of. The blue text above the blue cookies should probably be moved...and the Merry Christmas text is hard to read...as already stated above twice :D

Japanese Foliage brush set does not fit this design.

"Merry Christmas" in the Scriptina font needs major work. Take a look at where the letters are overlapping, etc and make adjustments.

The coloured blocks above the images do not coordinate with the images nor with the theme of the card.

The random sparkle brush that also looks like it's freeware is pointless and only makes the design look cluttered and busy.

The text is impossible to read with it's placement and colour.

Why is your logo just sitting there in the middle? Looks awkward.

2008 looks like an afterthought and doesn't seem to fit with the design at all. I would try using a simple, legible font.

Why I shouldn't use Japanese Foliage brush in this design?

I think sometime we need to change our mind. Use something strange in normal will be make a new looking.

Anyway, thanks for your comment.

Because it doesn't relate at all with the imagery or theme you've chosen.

Go for it, use whatever you want - you asked for an opinion.

I agree with Rikki: you should better coordinate the colors of the solid areas with the dominant color in the pictures (i.e. for the snowflakes picture, use the blue block, for the holly and cranberries, use a red block). It will be much more effective that way.

Post updates :)
