You're right guys! Paris has no place in here. :)
Ivan | Tue, 2005-02-22 15:38Sorry to post it, but I thought I should keep it here for reference, since it's not fair to just delete it without notice.

Hahaha, I think it's a great idea!
Let us know on the numbers, and don't worry about those narrow minded comments some people left. I think it's great marketing research!

I thought it was an amusing internet experiment. Too bad other people didn't see it that way.

well, it's too late, i took it off already. but the numbers will be high because pixelsurgeon has linked Jim's quark bashing article.
As the person formerly known as "Ed Knittel" in the original post I just wanted to say that I'm all for having some fun and I personally have no problem with "dirty" words sprinkled around the internets - I've been known to be very candid on my personal blog. But CreativeBits is an extension of Ivan and the type of work that he does. I said what I said more as a concern for him than anyone else.
If Ivan *really* wanted to test Google he would have kept the post up. I don't believe that he caved to any pressure (there were only 2 comments afteral - not hundreds). I believe that upon further inspection he agreed that the post was out of the norm and really did not fit with the message and style of his web site.
In the end I think it was a wise decision to remove it.
tx! And welcome to the forums Ed!
I know Ivan is gonna raise an eyebrow about me saying this, but to be honest, if I had seen the article, I would have deleted it immediately Unfortunately, I didn't catch it in time.
The last time we had an article on the front page that contained a swear word in it, the company my wife works for blocked the site via the firewall filters.
I don't mind the foul language in the forums, because you register and read of your own free will. But the front page is a different story.
This really isn't Ivan's fault, as much of the world has a much more relaxed attitude about sex, language and such than the U.S., Canada, Britain and a few other countries. Sometimes we forget that this site is world-wide, and viewed by a large range of people in a variety of places (not always in the privacy of ones own home) we aren't the small group of pals sitting around the poker table in the basement anymore.

that's a really good point. truthfully i have to say this hadn't accured to me before. makes you think a bit more about what you write.
for example, here in iceland we are really relaxed about this... and when thinking back, i could maybe ease a bit on certain things when in the US.
a few years back i was in high school in the US and was asked to make a mix tape of non-american songs, to let the kids hear examples. i was of course asked to try to choose songs that were not offencive and i thought i did. when the teacher listened to the tape, before letting it out, he turned it of after about 20 seconds. the first song i chose was a song call "move your ass". to me it was less than nothing...
this shows you we are all different... while still the same! :)
Sure we are! The problem is the basement window's too big and the rest of the world is looking in.
Alec
Good point!
