Here is a redone version of yuzudesign

What do you guys think of this one? Here was the original: http://yuzudesign.com/Yuzu_icon2.jpg

There have been thoughts of ditching the yuzu fruit symbol all together.

And just so you know yuzu is a type of citrus fruit.

Any ideas are welcome, thanks,

Love the way you attached the leaf to the fruit and like the font (especially compared to the Hobo variation in the older version). But - like yourself - I'm wondering what's the purpose of the fruit? How does it relate to what you are doing? Then again, if you remove it - you have nothing left except the type. Maybe that's all you need. A lot of design logos are just plays on the initials - no other artwork. If you drop the fruit you need to do something with the type - make it your own somehow.

Jmho.

I don't see any concept behind the logo. it's a nice orange, and nice type, but nothing really interesting in it. Why are you using an orange for it?

Thanks for the comment. It's not an orange, yuzu is a type of citrus fruit. But agree, yuzu has nothing to do with my web design business other than it is a very memorable name. Its to late in the game to change the name / nor do I want to.

Drop the fruit...it does zero for this design. Consider stylizing text only; and once into the colour stage, hit the word "Yuzu" with the citrus fruit's palette. Currently they are working as two separate elements. Also, have you considered utilizing the plant itself rather than only the fruit; perhaps treating the branches of the tree as links on your site? Just a thought...

IM-(inexperienced)-O I would drop the fruit. I would play with YUZO it's a nice word. But then what do I know- ziltch.

Every opinion is valid. If you don't feel comfortable critiquing from a designer's standpoint yet - you can play the important role of the client. ;-)

The fruit is very dominant, and i'm happy you are ditching the old "hobo" typeface.

The logo isn't BAD but it could be better and if your looking for a critique, here it is!

Perhaps you could play with locking positions of the symbolmark and type, as I said the symbol is dominant and it feels slightly off balance.

Also think about your position in the marketplace, it doens't look very high end at the moment, if you know what i mean.

About the symbol, yuzu is your name you decided, and it's your web business, you don't have to get rid of it, but perhaps you could tie it into web or being creative another way. Look at Apple for example, it has a bite out of it. Does the Yuzu need a little something extra, maybe a squirt or slice? I think right now the symbol lacks edgyness.

I think you could try out just having the name, Yuzu, and design can be some kind of byline, maybe design soloutions, or creative design? It would look more sophisticated and would be more memorable aswell. (just an opinion, not really a big deal.)

I think Orange is not an Apple.

This comparison is predictable and play against your business.

Don't make your logo an illustration made by CorelDraw aprentices.

Stylize them, you need to fly, you need to find new viewpoints.

I don't like the kerning between fruit and logotype.

I wish success to you. I'm an aprentice too. Forever. :)
