Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 Get Retina

After a wait that has made more than a few MacBook Pro users increasingly restless, Adobe has now released updated versions of Photoshop and Illustrator for both Creative Suite subscribers and perpetual license customers as a free update.

The release came ahead of yesterday's Create Now Live event, which is now available for viewing as a series of videos.

I'm wondering if Kelby has that tattooed on his body somewhere... "Mr. Photoshop Tips".

My second question would be did he decide to do that on his own, or did Adobe make him do it.

Kelby is a polished presenter, with a long and profitable relationship with Adobe. I was surprised by his performance, which seemed totally over the top. A little more restraint about the merits of Creative Cloud would have been more convincing. It was as if offscreen someone was holding a gun to the head of his dog. Rufus also seemed flustered at times. Slowing the pace of the event down would have helped -- racing through everything and declaring it Fantastic! over and over simply devalued what was a very significant boost to the value of Creative Cloud.

Years ago (1997?) I went to one of Kelby's Photoshop seminars. I've never liked seminars, but my employer was paying so I went. At the time I was a fan of Kelby - he was still doing his Mac Today magazine which was dropped off at our place every month. The seminar was more informative than most - granted - especially for the fresher faces. But he also spent a good portion of the time telling jokes and clowning around. It was enjoyable - but more of an entertainment spectacle than a learning experience. Bottom line - four hour seminar - think I took home one new useful tip. That was probably my last seminar.

Anyway - that's why I like to razz on Kelby. He's doing well for himself - more power to him. But there's also a little hot air there as well.

It's true that Kelby has often gone out of his way to inject his own brand of humor into his training material -- sometimes at the expense of the rock solid content. However, the seminar you're referring to was 15 years ago! People do get older and wiser -- or at least I like to think so.

Other than getting a Retina update, the entire thing was a yawn-fest.
