And the winner is the Quetzal and the moon option...

This the result after four and a halve hours of sketching and playing side to side with my client, at my clients office. The labor pains were, real pains, but he is now happy and I think is nice and elegant and it really represents the name by itself. The quetzal sitting on the crescent moon was Mara´s insight, and I thank you for that.

I'm sorry, but I don't like it. The concept is good but the way it is executed is not too nice. The whole logo is unbalanced. You have so much happening in the left side, but the typo is centralized. The two typefaces don't match. The black is too strong. Bring in some color. The illustration would benefit from simplification.

How about doing something like this?

If you're going to have a bird sitting on the moon, I would definitely get rid of the face that the moon has. It looks like they are looking at each other - kinda weird.

Also, Having both the title and the subtitle in black is quite static. This seems like a festive restaurant, so spice it up with color.

I agree with Ivan, in that it is completely imbalanced. Try printing it out, folding the paper in half and opening it up again. Do the sides have balance, or is there much more ink on one side? That can be a good indication to equalize the weight on either side.

I would try by using a non-personifed version of a moon. Try different placements.

As I said we went from a to z options in my client´s office, we tried every little detail, I did one with stars to try to balance it and he was very happy with it, he did like this idea, as you saw before I suggested even some that where so beautiful as the iron work, and he wasn't that much, the name is luna de Xelaju, this is an old traditional song, about a man feeling sad and lonely and that Xelaju, the region is the only love he has, as for that I had a lot of material to get inspired with, and I did all the does and don´ts but he got the idea of the moon and the quetzal and a big, big smile showed up his face, I new this was something... anyway I still have to work a lot with it and get it to the perfect balance type and combination.
Thanks for your critique... I appreciate it very much. Ill keep you posted on what is going on,

I really like this logo. It's sharp and clean. Good job. Don't change a thing.
