Bevel/Emboss Effect in Illustrator

Hi everybody...I occasionally use the bevel/emboss effect in Photoshop and have wanted the same convenience when working in Illustrator (CS2). Illustrator's Extrude & Bevel seems a much more powerful and complex tool than what I need for what is such a simple task in PS. Am I missing a simpler method in Illustrator to accomplish the same effect? Any suggestions? I've attached an example created in PS of what I'm trying to do in Illustrator...Robin
