Apple-1>9 (Cmd-1>9)
To quickly load the bookmark bar's urls. For example press Apple-2 for the second bookmark on the list. I wish there was a keycombo to open a bookmark in the bookmark bar in a new tab, but until than you can just press Apple-T, Apple-2 consecutively.
Apple-L (Cmd-L)
Without reaching for the mouse, you can position your cursor into the url or web address field. Just press Apple-L and start typing the url. If the url you're typing is a .com, you don't even need to type .com at the end. The way to remember the combo - L stands for location.
Apple-Alt-F (Cmd-Option-F)
Again, save a trip with your mouse and position your cursor in the search field with this key combo. Just press Apple-Alt-F and start typing.

how to open a bookmark in a new tab...
If you want to open a bookmark in a new tab, just open the Bookmark menu, and hold down command while you click.
Also, if you decide to open the previous page in a new tab just press the command key while click Back button.

command = apple
To be consistent with Ivan's post, I should have said Apple where I said command.

Apple-Alt-F (Cmd-Option-F) works elsewhere
It seems the Apple-Alt-F (Cmd-Option-F) combination also works in other apps, such as Finder, iTunes, NetNewsWire, etc.

If you install Safari Stand,
If you install Safari Stand, it will give you the ability to "Find as you type" similar to Firefox. Not quite as nice as Firefox, but what it does is instanly brings up the Find box for you when you start typing. Stand also add numeour other free enhancements. You can read more about it here http://pimpmysafari.com/

i love the "cmd+click" for opening in new tabs... now i just wish that the Finder still allowed you to do that with shortcuts that are at the top of the window...
Building on that CMD-L...
If you highlight a word or phrase anywhere on a webpage and press CMD-SHFT-L, it's automatically inserted into the search field, and returns Google results.
