The Unarchiver

Here's a small tip concerning unarchiving files in Mac OS X
Mac OS X uses the application called BOMArchiveHelper which is the builtin archive unpacker application. If you don't like Stuffit and want an improved unarchiver in OS X..
Try this application then called "The unarchiver" which handles more file archive types such as: Zip, Tar-GZip, Tar-BZip2, Rar, 7-zip, LhA, StuffIt and many more..

Wicked Fast Unarchiver
I just discovered this the other day from Adam Betts' blog (He designed the icons.). It is WAY faster than BOMArchiveHelper or Stuffit expander.
However, I have two complaints with it. First, if it has a dialog box to tell you something, it doesn't automatically come to the front. Second, it cannot handle passworded files well. I had to use Stuffit Expander to extract passworded files.
Aside from those, this is my new unarchiver. Fast, simple and FAST. It also handles muitlple simultaneous unarchiving well.
Nice but not perfect either
It can't do sitx files either (not their fault, it's a closed format). I don't think it handles passworded stuffit or RAR archives, but it does do passworded zips, which is one important thing that BOMArchiveHelper doesn't do.
One problem is has is Filename Encoding. For some reason the selection list is filled with only Chinese characters and is completely useless.
Yeah, The Unarchiver gets
Yeah, The Unarchiver gets two thumbs up from me.
