Inspiring logos
Ivan | Sat, 2005-03-12 20:23I was in Dubai last weekend and I saw a booming industry. Amazing designs both architectural and graphic. Below is a logo I found really cool. See if you can find the word "souk" (means market) in English in the logo.

More on logos in the blog.

You are so right that Dubai is probably a booming design industry. I also posted a related post about this phenomenon some days ago: http://connecta.typepad.com/cph127/2005/03/smart_spaces_fo.html
One can find plenty of such beautiful arabic calligraphic logos fused with modernism in this region.
Dubai is certainly experiencing a boom in all media related fields and has a long way to go!
jacob! nice blog! i'll post the link in your latest entry as well. very good test!
Gorgeous, thanks for showing it to us!
Dubai has a lot of potential. In all aspects I would say.
Great blog, keep it coming!
Yes, it's not a bad example, combining two 'souk's in both English and Arabic.
Souk appears twice in English and Arabic (4 times total). It's in English top (upside down) and bottom and in Arabic, left and right! The whole design blends together seamlessly to create a bilingual logo that looks like a maze! It's gorgeous!
correct.
btw. my Arabic is next to nothing, but i believe the four dots are unnecessary, they are "just" fillers.
Apparently there is alot of Dubai love in here... So lemme pose a question to y'all... I am graduating this semester.. 2 months and am facing a dilemma - So help me out. Given a choice when starting a career in advertising and design, which of the two places would you guys recommend - 1. The Bay area (San Francisco, Sacramento) or 2. Dubai.
Thanks
Ashish
I really want to get a tatoo with some kind of arabic writing. Can anyone show me some kind of arabic alphabet or something?
How about this one?
