Split Layer Styles into Individual Layers

crhoadhouse's picture

Say that you created an effect using a layer style but it is not quite exactly what you want, perhaps you want a drop shadow to have a halftone effect or you want to switch the stacking order of the effects. Well there is a easy way to divide them into layers...

1. Create your layer style
2. Click on the small "f" icon in that layer in the layers pallet while holding down the control key.
3. Choose "Create layers" in the resulting pop-up menu.
4. There you have it, seperate layers for the effects. Photoshop is even nice enough to name the layers after the effect they represent.

Now if you were totally insane you could then apply more layer styles to the resulting individual layers...

Crap

This doesn't seem to work in CS2, is there another way to do it?

Works For Me

I just did it using CS2 and it worked fine. [It's the third option from the bottom in the contexual menu]
