Use Special Characters in Lion Without Going to the Menu
Jframe2002 (91 pencils) | Wed, 2011-10-26 19:43Lion allows you to use Special Characters in Safari just by pressing and holding a letter.
This can be a very convenient too. So far i tested this feature with Safari, Mail, Pages, and MS Word.
Not working with Photoshop, but its still a neat tip when your composing an e-mail or writing a paper.

Not working for me. Where is your cursor when you press the letter? What part of Safari is active? Here's what I'm getting...

Cool! I like this. Thanks for the tip. Also, the first choice is the accent grave that has a very complicated keystroke combo. Sometimes I just give up and Google something that's likely to have the character in it, and copy/paste it, so that's a real time-saver.
BTW, it works for all the usual vowels that take diacritical marks.

awesome, that should be obvious to me as an iOS user, but I have never considered it on a physical keyboard.
