This popular quote is taken from a video game called The Screamer. On May 25, 1985, a video game developer by the name of Magical Zoo released this game containing this quote. At the beginning of the game, a chyron sets the scene with the following statement, later translated as: “You stand on the city of diaster, the Beast City, where the biological intelligence in an artificial system, what we call ‘BIAS’ is located. Nobody knows about what has been going on ‘BIAS.’ You could hear nothing but the deep breathing of ‘BIAS.’ The only way to survive is DEHUMANIZE YOURSELF AND FACE TO THE BLOODSHED.”
This phrase slowly grew popular with online game communities and is usually paired with the theme song to the video game RoboCop.

On August 6th, 2007, a Youtube user uploaded a video with the game’s opening scene, receiving more than 26,000 views. Years later in 2011, Youtuber CBoyardee posted a video called ‘Dilbert 3’ which was an animated parody of the comic strip titled Dilbert. This clip follows Dilbert committing suicide yelling this common phrase ‘Dehumanize yourself and face to the bloodshed,’ while the RoboCop theme music plays in the background.
Later that year, yodooder, a Youtube user, shared a video with this line as the title, which features gameplay from the popular video game Grand Theft Auto. This video got 4,500 views. references to this line began slowly popping up online and made its first appearance on Reddit February 3rd, 2014. Davielove published a gif of this scene, receiving more than 400 points in less than 7 hours.
