I’m speaking here of the innovative application for sketching, drawing and painting, released last month for Mac and Windows by developer 61 Solutions. Mischief seeks the holy graphical grail of ‘the richness of pixel-based brushes and the scalability of vectors’ and to that end provides an environment in which you don’t define the page size or resolution but instead just start drawing, in the knowledge that the program’s promised infinite canvas will never get in your way. My only quibble at the time was the $129 price tag, which I suggested in a related Graphics.com news item should be cut in half. A month later that’s exactly what has been done, with Mischief now priced at a more reasonable $65. It’s well worth giving the trial version a spin to experience a fresh approach to the creation of digital artwork.
